Ethics and Integrity

Ethics and Integrity

Responsible research considers consent, privacy and the wellbeing of participants. Consult the University’s current policies before preparing a research activity. The review example below explains a possible sequence; it does not replace an approved procedure.

Illustrative ethics review flow

1. Prepare the proposal

Describe the purpose, participants, consent process and data handling. Check the current University policies before submission.

2. Check completeness

If information is incomplete, return to preparation and revise it. If complete, submit through the authorised review channel.

3. Respond to review

If revisions are requested, revise and resubmit for review. If approval is refused, do not begin the activity. Await the required written approval before proceeding.

4. Conduct and review

Follow the approved conditions. Seek advice about changes or concerns and complete any required reporting.

Responsible practice

Keep participants informed and handle information responsibly. Follow the University’s current guidance when planning research with participants.
