Admissions FAQ

Entry requirements

Standard entry to our full-time undergraduate degrees requires the HKDSE with Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language, Level 2 or above in Mathematics and Citizenship and Social Development, plus one elective subject, or a recognised equivalent qualification. Postgraduate programmes require a relevant first degree or professional qualification, and some professional programmes also ask for a period of relevant work experience.

English language requirements

Applicants without HKDSE English Language at Level 3 or above may instead present IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall with no sub-score below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80, or an equivalent recognised assessment taken within the past two years. Programmes leading to a teaching qualification set an additional benchmark in line with the Language Proficiency Requirement for teachers.

Applying as a non-local applicant

Non-local applicants apply through the same online portal as local applicants and are assessed against equivalent academic and language requirements. Successful applicants receive guidance from the Faculty and the University's International Affairs Office on student visa applications, arrival and on-campus accommodation, and orientation is arranged before the start of each academic year.

Scholarships and fees

Entrance scholarships are awarded automatically to the strongest applicants in each cohort on the basis of their application, with no separate form required. Need-based bursaries, book grants and emergency funds are available to enrolled students through the Faculty and the University's Student Affairs Office. Tuition fees vary by programme and funding status; government-funded undergraduate places follow the standard UGC fee schedule, while self-financed and professional programmes are charged at published per-programme rates.

Applications for the 2027/28 intake close on 30 April 2027. Programme pages list the entry requirements in full.
